Toughening Masterbatch product description

The toughening masterbatches are used to toughen HDPE, copolymer PP and homopolymer PP, which are prepared from the micron and sub-micron calcium carbonate fillers with the special surface-treatment. The mechanic strength of the composites can be improved significantly and controlled conveniently by the added content of the toughening masterbatches. The impact strength of both the room-temperature and the low-temperature can be increased in the range of 200%-500% and the flexural modulus can be increased in the range of 25%-30%. The toughening masterbatche granules can be mixed easily with the plastic granules. The processabilities of the composites, such as the melt-rheology and the size-stability of the plastic production, can also be improved effectely.

ZR250G  It is mainly used for manufacture of high density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe, ripple pipe, blow moulding pallet or blow moulding container. Its adding content is 20% to 50%. The impact strength of the modified product can be increased in the range of 200%-400%, the flexural modulus can be increased in the range of 25%-30%, and the cost of product can also be decreased. 

ZR—250B  It is mainly used for manufacture of polypropylene (PP) fiber product, such as all kinds of cement bulk bag, chemical bag, pharmaceutical cleanness bag, breathable bag, leak proof bag and so on. Its adding content is 8% to 20%. The tensile strength, flexural strength and the smooth of the fiber product can be significantly improved and the cost of product can also be decreased.

The ZR—250B can also be used for manufacture of PP or HDPE of shipping containers, diversified special containers, such as transportation containers, customized storage containers, equipment containers, house containers, and injection moulding pallet and polypropylene rubber pipe, etc. Its adding content is 10% to 30%. The impact strength of the modified product can be increased in the range of 200% -500%, the flexural modulus can be increased in the range of 25%-30%, and the cost of product can also be decreased.

ZR—500A  It is mainly used for manufacture of automobile industries such as polypropylene bumper, panel and door fender and wheel cover et al. Its adding content is 10% to 30%. The impact strength, flexural modulus of the modified product can be increased, the content of used thermoplastic elastomer can be decreased, and the cost of product can be decreased.

ZR—250BA  Barium sulfate particles are resistant to strong acid, alkali corrosion characteristics, so it is mainly used for to the acid resistance and alkali corrosion of HDPE packaging container. It can improve the strength and rigidity of the drop test of 50 to 200 litre packaging barrel, and obviously reduce the material cost of the modified products. The added amount is about 15%.

Application Fields of the Toughening Masterbatches

 

1. Injection Mould Productions, such as the plastic crate, plastic basket, plastic pallet, and ash cart. The impact strength of both the room-temperature and low-temperature, the flexural modulus, and the size-stability can be improved. The mechanic strength of the composites has reached the level of ABS, that is to say, ABS can be replaced by the polyolefin plastics in some productions that need the high performances and the production cost is lowered.

2. Automobile Fittings, such as the bumper, the instrument panel, and the steering wheel. The toughening masterbatches can give the composite the higher toughness and the higher flexural modulus. The elastomer content is reduced in these productions to lower the production cost.

3. Plastic Film and PP Flat Fiber. The performances of the tensile strength, the deflection and the slipresistant in these productions are improved. 

User Handbook of the Toughening Masterbatches

The next three steps in processing are necessary: ingredient, mix, and process.

1. Ingredient: The ingredient is designed referring to the data listed in above tables. When HDPE is to be toughened, the masterbatch of 250B and an added content of 40%-50% are suggested. In case of PP, the masterbatch of 500A and an added content of 20%-30% are suggested.

2. Mix: The toughening masterbatch granules, the plastic granules, and the colour masterbatch granules (or the dyes) are mixed. Due to the shield effect of calcium carbonate on the colour, a slightly excess amount of the colour masterbatchs (or the dyes) are suggested.

3. Process: When HDPE is to be toughened, the injection temperature or the extrude temperature is suggested to increase 10-20. In case of PP, the normal processing temperature can be used, but somewhat a higher injection pressure is needed. In addition, the mould temperature is suggested to maintain at the temperatures of 40-50 whenever in injection or extrude to ensure a good melt-flowability and a suitable melt-cooling.
